New York Times Flunks Economics

To the surprise of no one the New York Times has editorialized again in favor of raising taxes on corporations.  They complain that a recent GAO report indicates that about two-thirds of all U.S. corporations generally don't pay corporate income taxes.

The ever-clueful editorial board has apparently never encountered the field of economics.  Here's the deal: corporations [...]

Sucks to be Someone

All I'm saying is that if I ever had to shoot over a person to hit a hostage taker….sucks to be that person.

The Angry White Man and the 2008 Election

Here is a great piece on the Angry White Man and the 2008 election.  A few highlights…

"His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field."

"The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — 'disenfranchised,' 'marginalized' and 'voiceless' — don’t [...]

The Antis Sometimes Tip Their Hand

Speaking of the real intentions of the anti-civil rights groups, Sebastian makes an interesting point on the Brady Campaign (formerly Handgun Control, Inc.) tipping its hand.

There’s Something About Mary

The Inquirer weighed in on the Mary McFate story recently.  They gave their usual free publicity to Bryan Miller at CeaseFire NJ (the NRA has to pay for advertising you know).  The editorial didn't have too much to say other than this charmer:

"To the extent that disrupts their important work fighting gun violence, the alleged [...]

Our Bizarre Ideas

According to Bryan Miller of Ceasefire NJ the right to defend yourself or your family is a bizarre and dangerous idea.  Yeah Bryan, it's really bizarre to want to protect your family.  Predators never target the weak right?  Hat tip to Cemetery.

Obama’s America

NRA News' Cam Edwards performing a great parody of Green Day's American Idiot…with a great slideshow to go along with it.  HT to Bitter.

How Silly of Me

I must have missed the line in the constitution that says things like probable cause don't apply to high school students.

Man vs Woman

In a physical struggle between a man and a woman, the man will usually win.  In a physical struggle between a man and a woman with a gun the results are likely to be very different.  Remind me why the feminists aren't on our side?

Why Safety is Bad for Kids Health

There's a good piece in today's WSJ on the dangers of over protecting kids.  Keeping kids overly protected not only prevents them from learning about taking reasonable risks (and building a little toughness) it also makes them just plain fat.  No bumps, no bruises, no fun and no exercise either.

I think we should make The [...]

Licensing of Rights is Wrong

Because this is always the sort of thing that happens.  What good is freedom if it can be bureaucratically mangled?  Hat tip to Sebastian.

A Win Against Eminent Domain Abuse

Here is a satisfying win (WSJ, Local News)against eminent domain abuse, in the People's Republic of New Jersey no less.  The courts have given the politicians way to much leeway to use eminent domain.  It is time to reign them in.  See the Castle Coalition for more information on he topic.

Russia Invades, Obama Fades

So, the Soviet Union Russia invades Georgia, a democracy, and Sen. Obama's first reaction is to call on both parties to exercise restraint.  Do you think that's what Neville Chamberlain said when the Nazis invaded Poland?

After his initial (correct) assesment that Russia has simply flat-out invaded a neighboring democracy, Sen. McCain has since moved on [...]

Your truth is showing

From Arms and the Law, we get an insight into the draft of the Democrat platform for the upcoming election. The money quote is this:

"We recognize that the right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans’ continued Second Amendment right to own and use firearms. We believe [...]

Fine Quote

“History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

Mary McFate and Why the NRA is not Paranoid

The left-wing magazine, Mother Jones, recently outed Mary McFate as a mole working for the NRA to infiltrate anti-gun groups.  It appears to be true.  It also appears to be completely legal.

The gang over at the Buckeye Firearms Association made a very interesting point on this: when the NRA says the real goal of "gun [...]

Seizure Without a Conviction?

There was a piece on the local all news radio station today about a house that had been seized and sold by the local D.A. following a drug bust.  There was nothing terribly notable about the story except for one detail:  the owners of the house haven't been convicted of anything yet.  They are still [...]

Brownshirts on the Left

The left, more known for the volume of its opinions than the quality of them, is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.  A new group calling itself Accountable America is trying literally to intimidate conservative donors.  Their website has a "Persons of Interest" section with a dossier of their targets.  Wow.  As much as the left [...]

Letter to the Editor

I sent the following to the Inquirer today in response to a letter ("Blame for Shooting") that was published yesterday.

To the editor:

A recent anti-gun tantrum published in the letters may not have gotten a single fact right.  First the author wrote that Justice Scalia's Heller decision supported the "right of would-be criminals to buy a handgun".  Is [...]

Gun Violence in Chicago

A recent article in the Chicago Sun Times highlighted the problems of gun violence in Chicago. It would appear from the article that children are at at great risk from firearms.

He's only 13 years old, but Benyamin Nunn already knows nine friends or relatives who have been shot — three of them fatally.

And later in [...]
