Letter to the Editor

I sent the following letter in response to this commentary in the Inquirer.

To the editor,

Chris Satullo’s piece attempting to pass off Bryan Miller of Ceasefire New Jersey as a moderate was off base.  Miller claims that “all we’re about is preventing gun violence” yet all he ever talks or writes about is further violating our civil rights with more gun control.  He advocates legislating away what the Supreme Court recently affirmed is an individual right guaranteed by the constitution.

Would it be considered moderate to advocate curtailing freedom of the press or freedom of religion?  Hardly.  You don’t need to deliver stem winding speeches to hold radical views.  Rather than praise, extremists like Miller should be condemned.

  1. I would suggest not publishing the letter until you know whether they will publish or not. (You’ll usually get a response within 24 hours if they are going to run it.) If they find it here, they likely won’t run it if they were considering it.

  2. What Bitter said. If you really hope to get published, tagging something like “exclusive to the Inquirer” on the correspondence, and giving them 24-48 hours to think about it may improve your chances.
