The left just never seems to grasp the idea that we have enemies not because of George Bush or because of alleged past wrongs around the world but because there are countries whose interests don’t match ours and worldviews that aren’t compatible with ours. It also helps explain the left’s mania for naive and unproductive negotiations with tyrants and thugs and their embarrassing willingness to prostrate themselves before them. The bad guys, I fear, understand the situation better than the left does.
