A Rattling Thought
The WSJ had a piece recently that took about 24 hours for me to digest and understand the full significance of. Mary O’Grady wrote about the creeping anti-semitism in South American courtesy of our pal Hugo Chavez. I don’t want to downplay that aspect of it but it’s the broader picture that hit me in the gut.
She talks about the increasing cooperation between Venezuela and Iran. In fact, she points out that Venezuela, which has ties to Hamas, has actually hosted Hezbollah militants. I think we can safely say they weren’t discussing Venezuela’s chances in the 2010 World Cup. Is it a coincidence that Chavez’s already thuggish supports have grown increasingly violent? I’ll go with….hmmm…no. And given Ol’ Hugo’s influence in the region, having his thugs trained up by Hezbollah is not going to help matters any.
But what really gave me a start was this thought: what if Venezuela is hoping to host Iranian developed nukes? Hugo wouldn’t need decades to do the research in secret and risk getting caught. He’d just need to smuggle them in and poof, instant hemispheric domination.
Let that one rattle around your brain for a while.
