I have been quite bad about posting lately.  This is because I am preparing for a rather significant undertaking.
On Monday I begin law school.  I suspect my posting will be sporadic as a result however I will certainly try to do so whenever I can.

George Steinbrenner died today of a heart attack.  It’s difficult to envision baseball without Steinbrenner.  But I guess it would be something like:

After a month and a half offline while recovering from surgery I am finally back.  There is plenty to say about the state of the world and I certainly plan to speak up.
On a side note, the site appears to have been mercilessly spammed in my absence.  I’ll need to remedy that.

In addition to being a Civil War general, a U.S. president and someone in my family tree, Ulysses Grant was apparently a president of the National Rifle Association.  I knew I liked him.

It’s standing room only at my local range/gun shop.  They frequently have an hour’s wait to get a lane.
So says Newbie Shooter.  I don’t seem to have that problem in NJ.

While 2008 had some great parts to it (the Heller decision, the birth of Baby Manifesto, etc.), overall I think most people happy to see 2008 in the rear view mirror.  I won’t disagree with that.

It’s worth reminding everyone that there is a reason for today’s holiday.  In fact, note the derivation of the word “holiday”, as in “Holy Day”.  It has nothing to do with pretty lights and bland, generic wintry symbols.  It isn’t the Holiday Holiday, as in “Happy Holidays”.  Huh?  Happy what?

Mrs. Manifesto has returned from the gun range.  She had a good enough time that after her lesson was over she bought more rounds and another target and kept shooting.  Best of all she said she’d go shooting with me some time.  Mrs. Manifesto rocks!

Mr. Manifesto is currently looking after Baby Manifesto.  Mrs. Manifesto is at an introductory class in pistol safety and marksmanship being taught by an NRA certified instructor.  This is her first experience with firearms.  Very exciting.  Could there be dates at the gun range some day?  How great would that be!

What can I give thanks for?  To list just a few…

When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have nail guns?

All I'm saying is that if I ever had to shoot over a person to hit a hostage taker….sucks to be that person.

Mr. and Mrs. Manifesto are pleased to announce the birth of their first baby, a girl.  That, my friends, is real hope for the future and for freedom.  It is not the "hope for statism" as envisioned by many.
